High School Counseling

From enrollment through graduation, counselors and teachers support students in their preparation for life. The counselors at Cairo American College seek to assist parents and students through the many challenges of transitioning to a new school and country. When families arrive at CAC, one of the first persons they meet is their counselor. From this initial encounter families and students share in creating a rigorous class schedule during their career at CAC. In addition, counselors advise students about athletics, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

There are four counselors in the high school. The grade 9 counselor, works with the students in making their transition to high school a successful and positive one. Beginning in 10th grade students are assigned a counselor and remain with the same counselor throughout their high school. In this way, families and students work with one individual providing continuous service through graduation.

As early as 10th grade the formal college counseling relationship begins with each student provided guidance in the area of career awareness, interest inventories, pre-college admission testing and academic counseling. The college advising system is expanded in the junior and senior years and the partnership strengthens when students make the final selection of one college where he or she will matriculate after graduation from Cairo American College.
